“SPI was much busier this year than last year. Some booths in the main isle were so packed it was like going to a nightclub.” That was Mike Dershowitz’s, President of MODsolar, reaction to SPI 2014, held in Las Vegas last month.
At SPI, you could sense the electricity of ideas and connections ready to meet and to build, as the solar industry came together for a week in October, with hundreds of exhibitors, thousands of attendees, and many educational opportunities for everyone.
In the weeks since we returned to work, we’ve all had time to process the show. In a time when the value of tradeshows is questioned, SPI proved its value yet again. Tradeshows are about making connections when you are open-minded to what can happen. Walk around, meet new people, and be optimistic about the future. You never know when that next person you’re talking to at your booth, or the person you chat with over coffee, can be your company’s next big deal. Or that idea that leads to the next big thing in solar.
Post Show Plan
By now your organization has followed up with everyone you met and connected with at the show. Like you, MODsolar has been busy following up with the people we met at the show, or those who we wanted to meet but just didn’t get a chance to.
The weeks following a show can be tough. You are competing for the attention of your potential new customers, while they are doing the same for their business. Too many companies put the time, planning, and expense into the show, without planning for the aftermath. Make sure to have a post-show plan, especially for a show as busy and ambitious as SPI.
